Udaipur – old town

Up to Rajasthan to stay in the old town of Udaipur for a few days before the wedding. This is a magical place with narrow laneways, twisting and turning with adventures down every alley way. Still loud (all those horns plus the dogs yapping!) but so much more character than Chennai. Plus, the cosy place we stayed had an awesome rooftop overlooking the palace and nearby houses (with lots of kite flying kids in each afternoon).

The main focus of this town is the lake which is a favourite for newlyweds and tourists alike (many more white people here than anywhere else in India so far!). It’s particularly spectacular at sunset.

Between the architecture, artwork and cows (with the BIG exception of the splattering cow poo!) this place is just amazing. Although one building did remind me of The Muppet Show (or “together mode” in Teams if you’ve used that gem 🤣).
