While Chennai isn’t a popular tourist destination, it does have a lot of foreign foods, with some French influence and even some decent sour dough!! Directly across from our accommodation was a French florist and cafe which made its own ice cream. M had taken I there one night to try their ice cream and they were keen that the rest of us give it a go.

So, during one of my extended yoga lunch breaks, we went there for dessert. Unfortunately, the downstairs area (where the ice cream was located) was closed and they wouldn’t be open for tastings for at least an hour or so. We were keen to taste a few different ones and in our disappointed state, we decided to head upstairs to the cafe and see what else we could find. There were some lovely choc chip biscuits that they warmed up for you – which then oozed deliciousness π€€
As we were enjoying some treats, the lady from downstairs appeared with a tray of four bowls of ice cream. She placed the tray on our table, told us what each one was and then walked away!
We were all a bit confused but excited that they had brought us ice cream! Indian people are just so nice! Admittedly, it was strange that two of the bowls had the same flavour, but hey, let’s not look a gift horse in the mouth. Now, it gets a bit hazy here (i.e. there are different opinions on exactly happened next!) but N and Z were very excited and started to tuck in…
Just then the lady returned and exclaimed “These are not yours!”.
π³ OOPS!!
Luckily we’d only started two (!!) of the four bowls, so she gave them to us and whisked the remaining untouched ice cream away.
The ice cream was very nice but clearly it was time for me to leave and get back to yoga…. πββοΈπ
And that’s why we can never return again…. except that M & the kids did go back twice more over the following days because the ice cream was that good! π€£
