A small scale ice sculpture display can be found in Harbin’s central Zhaolin Park, and it was free (but they may charge some years apparently – guess we just got lucky!). Night time is best of course because they light up the sculptures but it is obviously colder too. We wandered around for just less than an hour and it was quite pretty and enough time out and about.

You just wander through the park, admiring the intricacies of the many sculptures.

We also stumbled across a mini ice maze which was fun but very slippery in there – best to have both hands free to hold on!

And this park provided a small sample of some ice buildings that we were going to see on a much bigger scale the next day.
