Random Indian things

One of the joys of exploring a new country is going into the supermarkets and corner stores and just exploring the items, some familiar, some not so. While the kids were keen to buy the Onion Shampoo as a joke present for M, we managed to get away with just buying the wine soap.

We skipped the sun-tan remover, but I did comment on how we have the exact opposite product in Australia! So strange how much of “beauty” standards are so cultural and not universal as we seem to be taught. The Milo was just impressive with how high that kid’s leg is… but perhaps that’s just me getting old 👵

Our accommodation in Chennai had some fancy coat hangers – maybe this is the Indian equivalent of Ikea hangers?

This bucket bike was pretty cool. We didn’t see it in motion but it definitely seems like it could be ridden assuming you were tall enough to see over the front bucket stack. (so probably not so good for me)

Random artwork abounds in India including on the bridge pylons on the main roads. It makes the concrete look a lot better and distracts you from the fear of having an accident.

If you’ve ever had a dream where someone was chasing you and you had to hide in the toilet cubicle I think these hotel toilets would be the best place to retreat to: (plus they were clean!)

I do not recommend eating at this place. God only knows how they have been in business since 1964!

For anyone wondering how you can be a good boy:

And finally, I leave you with this pearl of wisdom, found in a restaurant in Kerala. Not the worst sign I have seen in a restaurant but pretty close. That goes to a place in Scotland whose sign said something like “Home Sweet Home it ain’t so get used to it”.
