Japan doesn’t celebrate Easter so we found our own way. Z read about “Bunny Island” (AKA Okunoshima) a while back and we knew we had to fit it in somehow! It is a bit tricky to get to with trains and a ferry but totally doable as a day trip from Hiroshima.
And yes, the bunnies just roam about as they like. They are friendly and will come up to you. We made the mistake of not buying food before we got on the ferry and there is none sold on the island itself π€¦However, the bunnies all thought we had food so came up to us anyway. Later on, we had some friendly Japanese and Australian tourists (on a school trip) give us their remaining rabbit food.

Of course, trying to take a picture of these cuties can be tricky…

But with some luck (& burst mode) you can get a good one (or three… hundred):

And, we are very pleased to announce that we finally found our trip mascot!

May I present: Esto* (Esti for short)
Here he is, on the right, saying farewell to his family, before starting his new life with us π

*Yes, he is named after our favourite pizza restaurant π after all, nothing says love like pizza!
i know there’s the lessons about sarcasm going on but I’d like to clarify if you’re now taking a bunny on this gap-9-months too? Given the ceremonial farewell Esti had from their family?! Please clarify.
