I have to admit, I got a bit more excited about seeing Mt Fuji than I thought I would. My earliest memory of knowing about this iconic mountain was as a child, playing the video game Pitstop on the C-64. That pixelated snow capped mountain in the background.
On a previous trip to Japan, we didn’t manage to catch a glimpse of Mt Fuji as it was being shy hiding behind clouds the whole time.
But this time it revealed itself! First glimpse was from a train station window, then a nice clear view as we ate pizza during a cycling afternoon around Lake Kawaguchiko. Stunning!
I was perhaps a bit sceptical at first, but it was easy to get swept up in the excitement of seeing Fuji-san.
