Green curry dreams

As the kids really love Thai food, we’d decided early on that Thailand would be a big part of our SE Asia adventure. With the family’s spice tolerance at an all time high, and promises of green curries and lychee sodas we were all quite keen for our month in the land of smiles. The question is, as per usual, where to go?

It’s always hard to decide what to see & do in any place and even more so when you don’t know a country at all. Therefore, when we’ve asked the kids previously what they want to do in a place it’s a difficult question for them to answer. We’d been to Bangkok in early 2024 so we felt like the kids could have a better understanding of Thailand and, given the excellent food, they’d have a greater motivation to plan this country.

And they came up with:

  • Bangkok (6 days)
  • Phuket (1 week)
  • Chiang Mai (1 week)
  • “Koh Samui?? Bruh theres nothing to do” (direct quote)

M added Ban Phai (in the North East) as he has a tennis friend living there.

Food tours, tuk tuk rides, massages, zip lines, elephants, cooking classes, night markets and shopping centres were all on the list. Temples were also on the list but they didn’t want to actually go there 🤔

We tried to follow their ideas as much as possible (after confirming that they were actually things that they wanted to do!) and I think we did well. They may not agree but perhaps, as with most teenagers, you’d be better off waiting a while before asking such a question.
