(From the title, you probably expect this post to be a lot more exciting that it actually is, so either stop reading now or lower your expectations!)
Every city has its quirks and in Bangkok there were some things that puzzled us.
The first is: more than one sign about vomiting in public bathrooms (like in a shopping mall for example). The first sign surprised me but I guess some places are unlucky and then feel the need to put up a sign. But then we spotted a similarly themed one a bit later in a completely different place.

There must be a story here and if anyone can explain this to me, I’d be most grateful. (Or perhaps I wouldn’t be actually…) (Ok, yes I totally will be grateful – I can handle grossness but not the not knowing!)
In their research, the kids had found Lumphini Park which has walking paths, giant monitor lizards roaming about, plus you can rent paddle boats. We figured this would be a nice way to spend an hour or two. We found the lizards quite easily – just look for someone taking a photo and it’s probably of one of these lizards. The paddle boats were a bit further inside the park and we could see a couple in the water but they appeared to be slightly lopsided. Hmm. How strange.

We walk over to the clump of boats, wondering how much they are to hire when we stumble across this sign:

I guess that’s why the boats were a little lopsided. And with a 65kg weight limit that rules out M, and really, one would think, many adult Westerners! Rather than be fat-shamed we left the park with our heads held high.
And, last but not least, this sign at the airport for anyone who wants to bring a gun onto a plane. Personally, it’d be a hard ‘no’ from me, but perhaps the Australian in me. I mean, it’s possible that they could just be trying to find a more polite or gentle way of saying ‘no’… 😬
