Our last stop before home was Singapore. We had a couple of days with friends and then ventured out by ourselves for a couple of nights in Chinatown.
As you might imagine Singapore accommodation is quite expensive so to keep costs down we had one room for the four of us which was the smallest of our entire trip. Basically a double bunk bed with barely enough floorspace for our bags, plus an ensuite with clear glass 😱 Luckily, before going to sleep on the first night, we stumbled across a switch called “Atomize” which made the glass opaque – phew! Why you would ever want it not to be opaque was something none of us could work out 😬
Chinatown has some wonderful street art, often depicting scenes of every day life. It was fun to wander and find another mural around a corner. Some invite you to sit and join in!

This area has a lot of colonial era buildings, which stand in sharp contrast to the modern skyscrapers just a few blocks away. Oh and colourful Hindu temples.

We also stumbled across a very Insta-worthy black and white cafe. The food wasn’t that great but really, you’re just there for the photos!

From here we flew home and back to reality!
Our trip has been amazing, challenging and then amazing again. Sometimes it really dragged, sometimes it felt too short and when we looked back it seemed like Japan was such a long time ago. One thing for sure though, we were all very much looking forward to being home – in our own beds and being able to walk into the kitchen and just grab a snack ❤️
