As we travelled the world, I got to try various Coca-Colas and the differences always fascinate me. Why does Australia have 385mL standard cans but the UK has 330mL and Malaysia 320? Who decides the sizing anyway and why do they differ between countries? And why so many different shapes of bottles and cans?

The most surprising thing was the sugar content. In Thailand, I found an ‘Original Taste Less Sugar’ version which has 29% less sugar than the classic version. I couldn’t taste any difference so I was pretty happy with that – often the artificial sweeteners have a distinct, unpleasant aftertaste but this had none of that.
Malaysia went even further with a 55% Less Sugar version and, again, I couldn’t taste the difference. And yes the full sugar version was available in both places, so you had a choice, which was great.

We also found a Tom Yum Coke in a Thai restaurant in KL:

Very similar to a Coke with a twist but you could have been more adventurous by eating the chilli too (I played it safe).
And, of course, they had the “named” versions and we managed to find everyone’s name plus a few random ones:

I think the scariest Coke version was this one in Vietnam with “added fibre”. Apparently it’s available in Japan too but I must have missed it there. Why anyone would drink this I have no idea. Firstly, if you need more fibre then how about eating actual food like a piece of fruit rather than this ultra-processed drink? And secondly, who wants to advertise to the world that they need more fibre? Definitely TMI π ββοΈπ ββοΈ
