1 – Emergency hat purchases when the kids forget theirs. Not what they would have chosen – and certainly they’d avoid getting the same one at home but choice was limited. I don’t expect these to make it back home.

2 – The lack of Coke in this country is ridiculous! Even if the fridge is branded Coke it’s often a variety of Fantas at best. Welcome to my nightmare:

3 – The wet toilets (the toilet itself & the floor) take a lot to get used to. At least at some places they have specific toilet shoes but that’s not that common where we have been – perhaps we need to go more upmarket? Even in the accommodation it’s usually open bathrooms so when you have a shower the water goes everywhere. Here’s a tip for beginners: put the toilet paper out of the way before you start your shower!

The picture below demonstrates this with two pairs of socks, side by side, having to be removed before entering the toilet. (This was in the cooler hills area where socks were needed to keep feet warm!) They wait patiently for their owners to return. (hopefully with dry feet)

P.S. Those flowy, wide legged pants you bought thinking they’d be so nice in the humidity don’t go well with wet toilets either! 🙄
