Logical… NOT

One of the main questions that we get is “Where have you been?”, quickly followed by “Where are you going next?”. It’s not hard to answer but it is seemingly illogical as we are often doubling back on ourselves. We plan to create a video with a map of where we’ve been and it would start nicely with Japan and Java but then from the UK to Europe it will get very messy 😵‍💫 But there is logic behind the madness I promise…

One of the best parts of this trip has been catching up with friends and this means we need to fit in with their plans. This means yet another spreadsheet to keep track of their summer travel plans and to work out how they might fit with ours as we attempt to align plans. Then, adding in the fact that weekends are best for most folks (strange that all these people need to work – I mean who does that? 😜), and our usual three day stint with people, things become complicated (i.e. we need another spreadsheet).

Out of all this, what we have tried to do (as a general rule) is: turn up at a friend’s place on Friday afternoon and leave Monday morning. During the week we do our own thing, which also gives the kids a break from having to interact with random people (from their point of view) so we get a balance. It’s certainly not efficient and does mean back tracking at times but it is working well for us.

So, that map video is going to look crazy at times, but absolutely worth it 🙌

  1. No wonder I have trouble working out where you are! Spring has not really sprung yet. Can’t wait to start whingeing about hot winds rather than cold winds!
