Mmm… (swiss) cheese

We had two nights in the picturesque town of Gruyères, Switzerland and we ate very well! Definitely two nights is enough with so much fondue, not to mention it’s a bit more expensive as well 😬

There isn’t a lot of choices when it comes to accommodation here so we stayed in a hotel which meant a cosy quad room. It had a skylight window with great views of the surrounding hills, para gliders and the occasional deer:

The town is tiny, very lovely and overrun by tourists during the day, so we were glad that we chose to stay overnight. (Even though that did mean parking our car down the hill and walking up with our bags.)

We had both types of fondue (i.e. cheese AND chocolate), plus raclette too. The raclette machine was a bit different from what we’d had in Germany with just a single bar heater across the top with a chunk of cheese underneath that melted and then you scraped it onto your bread or boiled potato.

Mmm… cheese and potatoes and bread 🤤 (insert gif of Homer patting his large belly)

To better round out these essential food groups, we also did a chocolate tour which you can read about here.
